🏈 A Friday Night at Northwestern
The other day at Circa, someone asked me: Who's your college football team?
My stock answer: Growing up in the Chicago area, I watched a lot of Notre Dame. Then I went to Northwestern, which was riding a 34-game losing streak when I arrived.
That might help explain why — if I had to rank the sports — college football isn't exactly at the top of my list.
But that was a long time ago.
Tonight, Northwestern plays Penn State in a marquee Friday night FOX game (8 p.m. ET) at its brand-new $850 million Ryan Field in Evanston.
The Wildcats are 3-point underdogs to the Nittany Lions and share the Friday college football menu with Pittsburgh-Virginia Tech (7 ET, ESPN) and Liberty-Delaware (7 ET, CBS Sports Network).
I went looking to see if any of our handicappers had an opinion on Northwestern-Penn State.
Matt Youmans does.

⚾ On to the Division Series
After the Braves eliminated the Phillies on Thursday night, the Division Series field is set.
I asked Adam Burke for his early read on Saturday's four matchups:
White Sox-Guardians: Adam thinks Chicago's power makes the White Sox more dangerous than their +120 series price suggests, although Cleveland's schedule could allow Parker Messick and Gavin Williams to each start twice.
Braves-Dodgers: “I think this could be a quick series.” Adam doesn't think Atlanta has enough pitching to contain the Dodgers — or enough consistent offense to overcome it.
Yankees-Rays: Adam thinks New York's series price is cheap, with or without Aaron Judge. The Yankees' power-oriented offense is particularly well suited for October.
Padres-Brewers: His favorite series to watch — and perhaps the hardest to bet. Both teams have excellent bullpens, San Diego finished the season on a roll and Adam thinks “it could really go either way.”
