LIVE BETs on SATURDAY
Tune into Live Bet Saturday 3P-6P ET on Saturday as Will Hill and I watch, discuss, and Live Bet College Football games as they happen!
As a child of the 80’s, one of my favorite non-sports movies was Wall Street. Michael Douglas won an Oscar as Best Actor, and a young Charlie Sheen pre-2011 Winning/Tiger Blood meltdown.
And as a kid growing up in Kentucky, that movie represented a world of which I could only imagine. I quoted that movie constantly like I understood, when I had no clue. “Greed is good,” is off-putting enough. But the one concept that stuck with a teenage kid who had already started gambling on sports was the “buy low, sell high” mantra. It changed everything.
That’s when I learned to bet against the AP Top 25 Poll instead of betting on it like I was doing at the time. And even this week, I’m betting against 6 ranked teams with unranked teams that seemingly have no chance. From playing against #1 (Miami), to fading ranked teams that are flying as high as they have in decades (UCLA, Kentucky), it’s something that historically has worked very well during Conference season.
Betting Systems go back to 2005. Lines and Betting Splits are courtesy of Circa.
Pittsburgh +20 at Miami
Betting against #1: always a great way to be a Contrarian Bettor. Road Dogs facing the #1 team in the AP Poll covers 57% of the time (58-45). Miami is no different than any other #1.
Line Move: Miami was –21 on Monday.
Betting Splits: 55% of the tickets are on Miami to cover, but 80% of the money is on Pittsburgh.
Betting System: Miami is one of the worst Conference Home Favorites in America. Conference Road Dogs are 44-27 (62%) ATS vs. Miami, including 1-0 in 2026.
Best Bet: Pittsburgh +20
Michigan State +15.5 at UCLA
Only one other team in America is 6-0 ATS (BYU). Perfection sometimes lasts in College Football SU, but it never lasts ATS.
Betting Splits: 64% of the tickets are on UCLA, but 72% of the money is on Michigan State.
Betting System: No room for error, when 48 is the magic number. Conference Road Dogs when the Total is 48 or less cover 56% of the time (850-698), including 15-13 in 2026.
Best Bet: Michigan State +15.5
Vanderbilt +10.5 at Kentucky
Kentucky is 6-1 SU and ATS. Vandy has lost 4 straight, and their last win was the infamous NC State gift for the ages. Although Kentucky is 4-1 in the SEC, they have been outgained in every SEC game.
Line Move: Kentucky was –11.5 on Monday.
Betting Splits: 59% of the tickets are on Kentucky, but 58% of the money is on Vanderbilt.
Betting System: FWIW, Vandy is 51-31 (63%) as an SEC Road Dog.
Best Bet: Vanderbilt +10.5
Texas A&M +14 at Alabama
A&M has lost 2 SEC road games this year by a combined 50 points (LSU & Missouri). Conventional wisdom says Bama coming off a loss to Tennessee, and realizing one more loss keeps them from the playoffs, has a “must win” mentality. A perfect time to go against conventional wisdom.
Line Move: Alabama was –14.5 on Monday.
Betting Splits: 54% of the tickets are on Alabama, but 82% of the money is on A&M.
Betting System: Conference Road Dogs facing a team on a losing streak cover 54% of the time in a sample size of almost 2,000 games (1,041-913). That includes 20-14 in 2026
Best Bet: Texas A&M +14
Cal +19 at SMU
Cal is a dumpster fire and will have the dreaded “Body Clock” Noon ET start this week. But this will be SMU’s fourth straight home game (System Spoiler).
Line Move: SMU was –19.5 on Thursday
Betting System: Home Team Complacency! Conference Road Dogs facing home teams playing their third or more consecutive home game cover 57% of the time (226-180), including 5-3 this year.
Best Bet: Cal +19
Rutgers +15.5 at Northwestern
Again, remember when Rutgers lost to UMass as a 4-touchdown Dog? They are 3-2 ATS since. And do you really trust Northwestern laying more than 2 TD?
Live Move: Northwestern was –16.5 earlier Friday.
Betting Splits: 67% of the tickets are on Northwestern to cover, but 85% of the money is on Rutgers.
Betting System: End of the line. Conference Road Dogs vs. Teams ranked from 22 to 25 in the AP Poll are 147-115 ATS (57%)
Best Bet: Rutgers +15.5
Good luck to you on Saturday.....
