Um, just another, another just j- great event here at Circa. It's awesome. Um, college football, of course, this weekend. A quick reminder about college football and a couple things.

One, just the, uh, the sort of downside of it that sometimes, what was the Jeff Parl- Jeff Parlay, uh, producer number five and eight, the Grover Cleveland of producers on this show, uh, one of his famous lines was, "College football, it is what it is."

And, uh, we saw, [laughs] we saw that with the Stanford Hawaii game. By the way, good on Matt Youmans and Tim Murray.

They had a great time going out there and broadcasting, uh, from Hawaii for that ballgame, but geez, that, that was the first reminder of how sloppy and bad college football can be sometimes. Yeah.

Stanford, Stanford had that game gashing Hawaii 20 to 17, gashing them on the ground, 20 to 17.

Um, what it is, first and 10 at the Rainbow Warriors' 24-yard line, and then Ben, Ben Golbranson, who, let's just put it this way, not good at quarterback, uh, or, or the receivers were just getting no separation.

That was also a Dr. Bob worry about this game, that Stanford's receivers weren't gonna get any separation. He was probably dead on about that, too.

But they call a pass play, gets picked off at point blank range, uh, by Kilinahi Mendiola-Jensen, and that just changes everything.

Game tying field goal from, uh, Kensei Matsuzawa, Cardinal three and out, 'cause they're just inept, and then, uh, Matsuzawa with a, uh, game-winning field goal, and Hawaii beats Stanford.

That was the one side of college football. The other one was a quick reminder of, you know, i- is this a bad beat or was it not a bad beat? Right, yeah, yep, yeah.

Uh, and I would, I, I will say the first judgment I can make on this is I don't think we can call this a bad beat.

I know people are complaining that it was, but Kansas State and Iowa State in Dublin, which Iowa State ends up winning by a field goal, 24-21, famously fourth and 15 late for Iowa State. The total's 50 and a half.

Uh, fourth and 15 at the 16-yard line. It's, uh, Rocco Beck to Carson Hansen. They get the first down. The only question is, is Hansen gonna get all the way to the end zone?

He dives in, looks like he scored in live action. Upon review, the forearm is down. So over bettors are dying here because Kansas State doesn't have any timeouts left, so Iowa State just runs out the clock.

Uh, the qualies at the US Open are free, so it was great to go to that, and they obviously, the tournament started for the first time on a Sunday, yesterday. Went two and two, um, including hitting a big plus 276.

She comes back from a five to one deficit in the third set, beats Clara Tauson on her fifth match point in the tiebreaker. That was amazing.

Uh, there was another match where Olga Danilovic, I wasn't involved in this, uh, squandered seven match points, loses, uh, in that match to, uh, Uchijima. And then last night, I don't know if you saw this, Kelly.

But be- in between the first serve and the second serve, a photographer runs out onto the, like the side of the court, and the very aggressive umpire decides to make a massive issue of it by saying, "Not now, not now," whatever he says, right?

And he grants Bonzi a s- another first serve. So Medvedev, who needs anything at this time to, like change the match around, goes ballistic, as he's been wont to do in New York City, by the way, before. He goes crazy.

He's screaming at the ump. He's screaming into the camera, "This is what Riley Opelka talked about." And apparently, uh, Zach did some research. Riley Opelka, Zach Cohen.

Riley Opelka had once criticized this umpire in Dallas, so Medvedev, aware of that, screaming at the camera about this umpire. He's going crazy. God, things we never talk about. Bonzi, instead of just serving through it.

And by the way, Medvedev is right. Why it was another first serve, I have no idea. Right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Right? Uh, Bonzi waits six minutes. He loses the point, so he, he squanders the match point. Whoa, whoa.

He waited six minutes? So he like slow rolled it? He waited six minutes because the crowd was like a zoo. Oh, okay. Hold on. It was like a mob scene in there.

What, what was the, what, what, what was the crowd- The- Who were they booing? Were they booing everybody? Dude, it's a fantastic question. I don't even think the crowd knew what they were rooting for.

Like, I could not tell if they were booing Medvedev, if they were booing the umpire, if they were just booing everybody, like whatever they were seeing. Medvedev was riling them up. Right.

And at midnight New York time, they were looking for any reason to get riled up. They're going nuts. So Bonzi, of course, squanders match point. Of course, Medvedev breaks him. Of course, Medvedev wins the set.

Uh, he wins the second set six-love, and then they get to the fifth and final. Medvedev up a break two different times. Bonzi breaks back, and Bonzi wins it in five into the wee hours. This, uh, tournament's bananas.

I ended up, you know, I bet Iga a few times after Wimbledon and on the run-up, so the best I got on Iga to win it was +352 and +349. She's +225, she's the short shot.
