Well, uh, golf and tennis have the same problem, which is they both have four majors, right? Mm-hmm.

And that's, that's what most people care about, and they both struggle to figure out a proper way to end their calendar year- Yeah... beyond the majors, right?

So tennis has, we have the ATP finals and the WTA finals where they take the best eight players and with points, and then they have a tournament.

And they, and, and when they drum up the excitement, you can tell it's almost this manufactured excitement. Mm-hmm. And golf has struggled to figure out, how do we end our season with a bang also?

And so they're just, you know, it's like, uh, they're, they're just workshopping. They, they are. Yeah. It's just, the, the problem is, is that, okay, so this is gonna become an issue because more people...

What I also hate though is golf and tennis, right, are held to this, held to this standard of it's the gentleman's sport and everything, right?

So everybody's killing Rory McIlroy for not showing up to this event, and it's... I, I, we, we don't kill NFL teams. Or probably a bad example 'cause you can get injured, right?

But, like, still, we don't kill NFL teams who have clinched a playoff spot for sitting their starters in week 18. It's just the smart thing to do. Right.

Like, I would be, I'm, I'm kind of shocked a lot more people aren't sitting out this event, to be honest. And it's, but it's already created a problem, just the discussion about that. This'll, yeah.

But they were like, "Oh, I am gobsmacked by this setting." It was like, so they had a baseball game, the Reds and the Braves at the Bristol Motor Speedway.

It was g- it set the record, I guess, for the most people in attendance ever at a Major League Baseball game.

And the, the opening lineups, they're, like, running out like it was a All-Star Game or something like that through all the hype. And then it rained, and it all got washed away Yeah. [laughs] And then it rained again.

It was just... But it was like no one... I, I was thinking as they were, like, trying to act like it was an amazing thing, I was like, "No one cares about this. No one. It's not that big of a deal."

Um, here are, for nationally, for National Football League MVP, here are a couple trends, uh, that he put together.

12 straight MVP winners of the National Football League, and 17 of the last 18, have been quarterbacks, and those teams have averaged just over 13 wins per season.

No MVP in the last 25 seasons came from a team with less than 11 wins. Since 2009, no quarterback has won MVP on a team with playoff odds worse than plus 315. Talking pl- pre-flop here.

Matt Ryan, um, 2016, I guess was the plus 315. Yeah. Cam Newton is the only MVP to come from a team who won less than eight games the prior season. So that's a couple parameters.

I would add this, and this is also from the Cleve TA thing, which is when it gets to advanced metrics, EPA per play, okay?

EPA per play, um, that is also, by the way, expected, uh, points added is what EPA is for the uninitiated.

It, it quantifies, EPA per play, how much a play contri- um, a play contributes to a team's score relative to the situation before the play.

Basically, it estimates the points a team, uh, is likely to score based on factors like field position, down, and distance.

So no quarterback the prior season has ever won the MVP, uh, with less than a positive EPA per play the previous season. I think Lamar Jackson had right at even was the lowest to then win an MVP.

So the 18 quarterbacks that qualify for that this year, Allen, Lamar Jackson. So Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Jared Goff, Kenny Pickett. I know, not everybody at once. Baker Mayfield, Tua. Kenny Pickett. Tua, Purdy,

Jayden Daniels, Joe Burrow, uh, Love, Hurts, Penix, Mahomes, Herbert, Murray, Darnold, Stafford, Fields. Fields is the lowest. If it ain't one of those 18 guys, they aren't winning MVP according to that. Okay.

I think it's an interesting outright opportunity, Gil, without... Well, I sh- I'm saying without Scottie Scheffler. I very matter-of-factly bet the without Scottie Scheffler market.

I've been doing it for quite some time, and it's been a very good thing to do. So I'm betting that market in the outright department, uh, this week at FedEx as well.

But the other thing I'm considering here is that Rory McIlroy's not playing, and I do think that opens up the board quite a bit to, like, the next 10 or 20 guys that I think are all viable to win this tournament.

So here's what I'm doing. I'm taking Tommy Fleetwood in the without Scottie Scheffler market at plus 1800.

I'm not a Tommy Fleetwood guy, but again, if I'm boxing out Scottie Scheffler and if Rory's not gonna show up, I do think Fleetwood could come into second place here. I love the plus 1800.

I mean, Fleetwood's been very good. Last year at the FedEx, he was, he led the field tee to green, first of all. He lost eight strokes putting, which is, like, unbelievably embarrassing and horrific.

But there is a sample size of him doing really well with the putter. The year prior at the FedEx St.

Jude, he was, let's see, T3, and he gained over five and a half, he gained about five and a half strokes with the putter.

So I just think he's coming into really good ball striking form, really good course fit, and clearly from a ball striking standpoint, loves it here.

Another guy that loves it here, who I'm also betting in the without market, is Viktor Hovland. But here's the tricky part I'm betting Hovland in the without Big Four market.

That Big Four actually includes Tommy Fleetwood. It's Scheffler, it's Fleetwood, it's JT, and it's Xander. This actually gives me the opportunity to scoop and hit both of these bets, but I'll get to that in a second.

Hovland at 25 to 1 in that without market. In some places it's 22 to 1.

This guy led the field ball striking last year, Viktor Hovland, and he was fourth tee to green, and I think that's important to point out because people usually fear the around the green play for Viktor Hovland, and while he has lost around the green, each time in the last three years it's been very minimal losses.

And oh, by the way, he's gained with the putter in all three of those turns over the last three years. So a great ball striker, great tee to green here. I mean, obviously coming in with good form.

It's been a little shaky, but we know he's won on tour this year as well, so he can pop. And then finally, Sam Burns in that same without market, the without Big Four. That's also 25 to 1.

Again, what I'm trying to do here is hit the Fleetwood bet.

I, I'd love to hit any one of these three bets, but I'm trying to hit the Fleetwood bet, and I'm also trying to potentially, if Fleetwood actually comes into second place or first, potentially hit this Hovland and Burns bet at the same time.

Okay. And, uh, first-round leader as well, Tommy Fleetwood? Yeah, fir- first-round leader, we're doing the same three. This is a, you know, a 69-person field.

I, I just, I just felt more compelled here to not play the wave advantages or morning versus afternoon. So I'm actually taking these three guys at 30, 35, and 40 to 1, and I'm adding in a sprinkle on Chris Kirk.

A little, a little bit of a long shot. I had him outright last week, actually. He was the first-round leader here last year. So I like Chris Kirk at 60 to 1. I'm adding him to the mix. That's four first-round leaders.

What is your take on this, Terry McLaurin's hold in with the Washington Commanders? My take is that he's not going anywhere.

I mean, I, I am seeing speculation about what teams and certain trades and discussions, but I don't think Terry has any intention of going anywhere.

I think these are all poker movers by, uh, poker moves by him and his agent, and, and they're appropriate poker moves.

I understand where Terry McLaurin is coming from, but at the same time, I understand where the Commanders are coming from. This is not a league where you necessarily get what you want.

This is a league where good organizations make good business decisions regardless of, of who you are.

So I do think there is going to be a time within the next, hopefully week or so, where these two parties meet in the middle and McLaurin gets a certain amount of guaranteed money over, let's say, three years that, that he is happy with, that's palatable to him, but the Washington Commanders don't overspend on a receiver that's about to turn 30 years old.

That's pretty much my take. That's been my take from the beginning, which I, I thought was pretty level-headed also. It, it's just, I think it works itself out. Uh, I would hate to see him in a, in another uniform.

Just sort of anecdotally, Siya, on this show, we've, uh, we've heard a lot of love for the, a lot of late love for the Tennessee Titans. Uh, you don't quite see it that way, correct? Yeah, I, I don't understand the love.

Uh, first of all, I think Cam Ward is gonna have, like, significant growing pains. And, and for the record, I, I liked Cam Ward at Washington State, uh, you know, enough. I, I liked him at Miami.

But if you watched him at Miami, there, there was a lot of poor decision-making. And listen, this guy has a great work ethic.

He's gonna get it, and after maybe his rookie year, maybe in his second or third year, like, things are gonna fall into place, particularly when they actually give him skill position players.

But, but the reality is, I think the growing pains are going to be severe for Cam Ward, and I, I think he's going to get caught, uh, wi- with, you know, just not really being an NFL player quite yet and making some poor decisions, especially when you...

I mean, his offensive line I think is okay. Uh, but outside of that, the skill position players aren't there. I don't think this defense is very good. I don't think they had a very good off-season.

And I, I think when you look at now going to an offense that has 10 returning starters back, an offensive line mostly intact, a, a team that has been desperate for a quarterback play since Cam Rising got hurt in 2023 at the beginning of the season, I think Dampier's set up really nicely to have a strong season.

And I think a Big 12 that, uh, it's not gonna be a shock to anybody, really does have some upward mobility.

Like, all of these teams, throw them in a hat, pull one out, and I tell you, "This is our Big 12 champ," there's not gonna be that many that would surprise you, uh, in that regard and in that exercise.

So I think that they're really wide open to potentially do this. A- and I think the world, again, of Dampier, and Whittingham has an experienced team. Seven guys coming back on defense.
