The numbers told the story, they always do. It's one of those idiots who believe in analytics. This is a numbers game with Gil Alexander on VSiN. Good Thursday morning to you. 1:11 It is a Numbers Game at VSiN, the sports betting network, vsin.com. Game Plus, iHeartRadio, YouTube TV, Sirius XM channel 158. Radio's Gil Alexander, everybody. That right there is television's Kelly Bidlin. 1:24 Hey, how we doing? We got it all covered. What else? That's right. Radio, TV, what else we got? Something else? No? Okay. Uh, on the show today, Zack and Crack. You know how we do on Thursday. 1:34 Zack Cohen will join us, talk, uh, NBA with us. Full slate of NBA tonight, yes? 12 games in action, Gil Alexander, yes. So not quite a full slate, but you get the idea. NFL Week 16. 1:46 Zack's got thoughts on Thursday Night Football. What a Thursday Night Football showdown tonight. Cannot wait. It's like the Sugar Hill Gang and the Furious Five. Showdown. You know what that means, Kelly. 1:57 Are we sure coming up Estamos Seguros will do that a little later on. Uh, Mike Somich with a rare Numbers Game appearance. Solid booking for Bidlin. Somo Bomb. Somo Bomb. 2:07 And, uh, the other half of the Zack and Crack team, of course, which I, uh, save for last. Crack man, Bill Krackomberger, unscripted, in studio, one full hour today. Deuce. 2:15 It's that kind of year, you know, it's that time of year where he do his little remote sometimes. Remote last week. Yeah. Remote next week. But he's in studio today. Full hour of Crack. 2:24 We'll, uh, find out what's on his mind. I did forget to, like, u- until last week, though, he used to do this way more often. Feels like the past couple- Yes... 2:32 years we've been blessed with him being in town- Oh, he will-... just all the time... he will tell you, he does less, does less traveling in general. I just think it's, uh, the, and that is, and that is- Traveling sucks. 2:43 [laughs] Well, it's not only the traveling sucks, it's also, in his case, it's, it's sports book created. Right, I see. Yeah. In other words, the opportunities are not there anymore. Yep. 2:52 Right when it was the, uh, when it was legalization and it was bonuses everywhere, oh, he was on the road all the time. Mm-hmm. Yeah, so no, no longer. He'll be here, uh, in studio. So all of that on the show today. 3:03 Plus, we're gonna look at, uh, in, uh, our never ending search for markets. 3:08 Sometimes we hit on these, somet- you know, sometimes they're good to talk about, or I should say they're always good to talk about, but sometimes they lead to bets, sometimes they don't. 3:15 Uh, we, may- we might have both of those today. A little later on we will, uh, discuss, uh, yay or nays, can a team win a Super Bowl or not? That's just a sort of opinion-based thing. 3:24 But we will also go to the old obscure markets of state, [laughs] states, uh, state. Will the, can an NFL team win a Super Bowl from these states? And there's that whole market, which I find, uh, sort of comical. 3:38 But we'll get to that. We'll do it all. We have to begin with what is a just tremendous Thursday Night Football game tonight with so many implications. 3:47 Rams at Seahawks, and when it comes to forget about, you know, playoff probability and all this, this is really like a Super Bowl probability game, because this will go a long way towards determining the number one seed. 3:59 It is not a determinant, literally, because obviously there's games to be played, and, you know, if a s- if a team like the Seahawks win tonight, teams like the Niners all of a sudden get wide-eyed about a number one seed. 4:10 But the number one seed, obviously, at each conference, uh, means so much. You're the only team that gets a bye. 4:15 That is the single biggest advantage of the NFL playoffs, and it really is a, uh, a negative feeling kryptonite. 4:22 In other words, no matter how you feel about, say, the Denver Broncos, just to use the AFC example of currently who inhabits the number one seed, even if you're negative on them, if they get the number one seed, you have to stop in your tracks and say, "Yeah, but they got the number one seed, so it doesn't matter what I think about them. 4:35 They've got this huge advantage." Tonight's game, and typically we'll go through, you know, we, we go through analytics when we talk about Thursday night games. 4:43 I will just briefly, but I think, I think this is one of these where it, it, it is really sort of informant, uh, informing to go back to the previous matchup between these two teams when they played in LA, and it wasn't that long ago, right? 4:58 Yeah, it feels a lot longer than it was. No. Like five weeks ago. Is that what it was? I believe it's five weeks ago. Craig, it was a week 11. Yeah. 5:05 Five weeks ago, these two teams played in Los Angeles at SoFi, and if you recall, the Rams won that game 21 to 19. 5:13 However, however, let's review the circumstances of that game, because I do think, you know, well, one, each game is created, uh, is, is its own thing, and not two, and no two games are created equally. 5:23 But I do think that there's something to glean from this game. The Rams won 21 to 19, but remember, this was a game where Sam Darnold threw four interceptions. Mm. No touchdowns, four picks. 5:36 Two of the Rams' three touchdowns in that ballgame, the starting field position for them, the Seahawks 25 and the Seahawks three. Yeah. I mean, they only had 249 total yards offense. 5:50 Stafford only threw for 130 in that ballgame, and those, those short fields were created, [clears throat] pardon me, by Darnold picks. And even with that, right, even with that mi- it was a minus three, I believe. 6:04 Yeah, the minus three in turnovers. Four picks for Darnold. The, uh, Rams had one turnover. But even with that disadvantage, if it was not for Ethan Evans' punt late for the Rams- Oh, I forgot about that... 6:19 that magically- Yeah... remember, it magically went out exactly at the one-yard line. Ke- Kelly's top five plays of the season that he's forgotten about. Yes. Yes. [laughs] That might be number one. It's up there. 6:29 Uh, it was rare that we think about a punt as the biggest thing in this, in this whole thing. 6:33 That punt, I mean, if the Rams end up winning tonight, you could actually go back to that punt and say, "That might have been their biggest play of the game." Yeah. 6:40 Because they will have, they will have swept the Seahawks largely based on that. Because what happened was they pinned the Seahawks at the one, uh, with 1:41 left in the game. 6:51 Seahawks had one timeout left, and the Seahawks were able to get to their own 38 with 17 seconds left, and then there was a PI on the Rams at the 40, at the Rams' 49. 7:03 So they did trot out Jason Myers, but it was for a 61-yard field goal that was woefully batted. It wasn't even close. But point being that if it, if the punt had gone out at, say, the, I don't know, 12- Mm-hmm... right? 7:14 It's a different story, and the Seahawks win that football game. That's how thin the margin was. That after Sam Darnold threw four picks. 7:22 So I've kinda talked myself into, to be honest with you, Kelly, just sort of based on that, the fact that there is no Davante Adams tonight. By the way, there's no Charles Cross either. Sam Darnold's blind side, right? 7:35 Blocker for the, uh, for the Hawks' left tackle. So this is a, it, uh, the weather looks good. The weather doesn't look as bad as they thought it might be, so weather doesn't appear to be a factor. 7:45 That would've been another- I just, yeah, I just pulled it up this morning. It does look like it's gonna be a little calmer than what we were hearing yesterday. 7:51 It does look like it's g- I mean, it's been raining in that part of the country for, I mean, what? Two weeks now it's been terrible. You know, a ton of flooding going on. 7:59 Uh, looks like there's gonna be rain pretty m- pretty much on and off throughout the game. That should be steady. Wind gusts up to 33. Oh, there, they are saying that. 8:07 So, like, they're, they're still up there, but I mean, I don't... Did you catch Kevin Roth yesterday? I- It was, like, 40-plus yesterday we, they, we thought we were looking at for this game. 8:14 Yesterday it looked much worse. Yeah. Um, but if you're saying it still could be 30, is that what you're saying? Gusts 33, yep. Um- Sustained at 13. So we'll see. So maybe, maybe it will be a factor, I don't know. 8:24 But, uh, all of that to say, but it, you know, 43 degrees, light rain. I'm looking at the, uh, the current wind, uh, with apologies to whatever Kevin Roth said. Yeah, 15 to 25. That is not negligible. 8:37 Uh, oh, actually tonight 10 to 20. So yeah, looking a lot... It, it could go very well weather-wise. 8:43 But the point being that early in the week when, you know, this matchup first came up, I'm like, "Well, you know, I think the Rams are the better football team." 8:48 And I probably still think the Rams are the better football team. I don't really... That doesn't really change the handicap here, which is short week at Seattle. Maybe m- weather's a thing, maybe it's not. 8:58 Rams used to playing in, in more pristine conditions, although there is a, a SoFi not exactly a dome, if you know what I mean, with the, uh, the side parts being open. But I, I have shifted. I lo- I like the Seahawks. 9:12 That sort of review of, of that first game kinda talked me into it. Um, and I, and 42 is the, is the total. I would lean under again on this just because when you... And that's when you get to the analytics part of it. 9:26 Th- this just might be a matchup issue for the Rams, right? 9:29 Like, they, they might be the better football team, but maybe the Seahawks defense is the, uh, the factor in both of these games that will be the overwhelming one. 9:37 And, you know, LA enters the d- the, uh, game with the NFL's number two scoring offense. Seattle number two scoring defense. They, uh, allow 17.3 points a game. 9:48 Um, both of them in terms of EPA per play to Los Angeles, third best NFL in EPA per play. Uh, Seattle second in the NFL in defense and EPA per play allowed. 9:59 Mike McDonald's team excellent against both the run and the pass. Um, league's best rushing defense. I mean, I think that last part is the biggest factor when you look at the, the numbers. Sure. 10:09 League's best rushing defense, which again makes the Rams more one-dimensional, and when you don't have Davante, it's super one-dimensional. And when there's, when there's rain and wind, right? Yeah. 10:20 You'd like to be able to lean on a running game a little bit more. So I, I, I'm, I'm betting the Seahawks. I have put in a bet. 10:27 Um, minus one and a half is what I got, and, uh, I know that's not the best of it, but I was distracted all week, and I really didn't go through that last game, didn't review it. 10:37 But that's, that's what I'm on, and I'd lean under. I may have a bet on the under bef- when all is said and done. Yeah, I mean, market swung your way. 10:43 I mean, yeah, you might not have the best of it, but you're talking, we're talking pennies, right? Yep. We've moved, we've moved around the zero. It was, you know, Rams one, then Seattle one. 10:51 We've got Seattle two here at Circa. Not, not too many twos out there, but there are a couple. Um, yeah, so we've seen Seattle money go that way. I think a lot of the re- uh, a lot because of what you just broke down. 11:01 I think good reasoning there. Um, I'm on the under from open. I have 46 and a half. I w- I would still only look under, though, like you're talking about. I mean, the conditions are gonna be out there. 11:12 Seattle's defense, not like the Rams' defense is any joke either. I, I had a little bit of concerns over some of the Seattle offense here recently, just from what I've seen with Darnold in the passing game. 11:22 Well, the, that's, that is the counter to my argument, right? Yeah. The counter, the counter. I can hear some, some Rams backers out there. And I love your team. Don't get me wrong. You're still number one to me. 11:30 But I just think this is a bad sort of situation. 11:32 The counter is, okay, well, if you, if you like that first game so much or if you read into that first game so much, what's to make you think [laughs] that Sam Darnold in a big moment, once again, maybe he doesn't have four picks. 11:44 Mm-hmm. I don't know. Maybe he has two bad ones- Yeah... that give Ram short field. And, and you're right. I, there, I don't have a counter to that. But my, I'm going to go ahead and say to myself, "Darnold," 11:56 he says very cautiously, "I'm backing you here." Samuel. Let's limit it to one, Samuel. [laughs] Right? Let's l- let's have yourself a, uh, a very well-managed game, and even that's damning praise. 12:09 But maybe even it's better than that. Ka- I just, just he can't have two of these horrific ones in a row, and I, I get it. Yeah. I'm, I'm banking on that with peril. Yeah. No, I hear you. Yeah. 12:18 Um, saw this in the VSiN Daily Newsletter this morning. This is from The Athletic, the number one seed probabilities with wins tonight. Yeah. Rams win, 90% chance they land the one seed. 12:29 Seahawks win, 53% chance they end up with the one seed. The Niners and Rams, with 21%, that's an error. That's right. Brings the Niners into the fold if that happens. 12:40 Uh, we'll come back, yay or nay on a whole bunch of teams. Can they get to the Super Bowl, yay or nay? Next on The Numbers Game at VSiN, the sports betting network. 12:48 [upbeat rock music] Buy smart, drive for less, and trade for more. This is from, [smacks lips] this is from Big Kumbe, who just, uh, tweeted in this moment. 14:49 He says, "If you're looking for markets to discuss, how about NFL draft to go number one? Feels like a non-quarterback year with shaky prospects and the Giants and Titans at the top." Yeah, it's a tough one, right? 14:59 'Cause could there be a trade-out this year? Feels like, right? One of the... Both of those teams right now in the driver's seat. Raiders have something to say about that as well for the number one seed. 15:09 Uh, we will get to that in time, I promise you that. Yeah, I mean, yeah, y- you and I love betting the NFL draft. Everybody who's- We love it... listened to this show for a while knows that. 15:17 But I, I mean, as we've kinda lightly hit, hit on all year long, it's been a tough, like, cycle to really talk about it 'cause we don't really know who's that quarterback, right? 15:27 It kinda, that's kinda been all season long. That's part of it. That's part of it, right? Yeah. And then where do these NFL teams finish, and whether they need a quarterback or not early on. 15:35 Giants feel like they got their guy. Right, yeah. Titans, I guess- I don't know what the Titans feel like [laughs]... 15:40 feel like- Probably [laughs] I guess, I feel like they got their guy, or they don't know yet if they have their guy. Uh, Brian at ChiCityBrian, 15:47 uh, he brings up a, a point that we bring up here on The Numbers Game at this time of year often through the years, which is the proverbial thing that you hear in mainstream media, teams in a must-win situation, right? 15:59 Not that we have that this week necessarily, but we certainly will in the next couple weeks, uh, in mass. This will be one of these situations where, you know, what we always say, and I always quote Dr. 16:09 Bob on this, "Hey, if a team's in a must-win situation, they must not be that good," right? It's sort of the counter to what the connotation is when they talk about it on mainstream media. 16:18 They're like, "Oh, a must-win situation. That means it just means more to them. You should really look at this team, you know, as, as having this s- this kind of qu- you know, qu- non-quantitative edge." 16:30 And Brian, ChiCityBrian sort of backs up our numbers, which he says, "Here is the, here is the, uh, eliminated team versus a must-win team." Let's just take that subset, 'cause this is not even a team that's in it. 16:42 Let's talk about an eliminated team versus a team in a must-win situation. Mm-hmm. The final two weeks of NFL seasons, um, I don't know how far back this goes. Oh, since 1990. Eliminated team versus must-win teams. 16:55 Guess what the ATS record is? 105, 69 and 4. So the team that has been bounced already crushes the team that is in the must-win situation, ATS. 17:07 Now, Bob would point out, and I think he does here in a response, um, that you don't bl- you don't bet those blindly. It's only worth playing if the must-win scenario is creating value in the market, and you need a... 17:19 And, and, and from Bob's perspective, what he would say is you need a good model to know that, right? So he, so don't play those blind. 17:26 Just know that if the market has adjusted somewhat because of that mainstream media narrative/bias, then it's a play-on thing. 17:36 Just something to keep in mind that we, we've talked about for many years here, uh, on the show. 17:40 Well, and often this time of year too, right, you'll see those, you know, whatever number you have it at or you think it should be at- Yeah... 17:46 and even what oddsmakers might set it at, where you could just see the betting, you know, bet... Everybody wants to come in and bet that one side, right? "Hey, they're the only side that has something to play for. 17:54 We're gonna bet this, this, and this." The number runs out two points. It's just one of those things where the, th- these are when the mainstream narratives help you as bettors sometimes. Mm-hmm. 18:03 Uh, Shay, I'm not even gonna, I'm not even gonna say it. Shrek McPhee almost got me. [laughs] "I think the Adams injury will really hurt the Rams inside the red zone," he says. 18:11 "Should settle for field goals when they were scoring touchdowns in recent weeks. Let Puka eat, then double inside the 20. Let someone else try to beat Seattle." That is, uh, Shrek McFee's- It-... viewpoint on it... 18:20 it has been wild how much that has just been a thing the whole season. It's like Puka, between the 20. Yeah. It's like, "Go for 40, and then we're gonna hit the red zone, Davante Adams touchdown." Yep. 18:30 Including, by the way, against the Seahawks earlier this year. Um, he scored from one out. Lockman, "Can we just be real and say tonight's game is Stafford's MVP? 18:39 If he wins tonight, he wins MVP, and the people with Stafford futures will cash." Wegspool, "My main handicap here is the regression of Sam Darnold, including the Rams game. 18:48 Second half of Atlanta game was good, but the slow starts work against bad teams, not the Rams. Seattle D has to win this game." Yeah, both sides of what we were talking about earlier. 18:56 Let's do a little yay or nay, shall we? All right. Yeah, let's do it. So this is not to win the Super Bowl. This is just are they a Super Bowl contender? Are they a contender, Gil? Okay. Okay? Yes, they are. 19:05 'Cause a lot of these teams we've been knocking, all right? So I'm just gonna- Knocking... gonna put our feet to the fire, your feet to the fire. I don't know if I've really under- ever understood that expression. Yeah. 19:13 But, you know, look how many people are being forced to have their feet to the fire. Um, okay, Denver Broncos, Super Bowl contender, yay or nay? 19:20 That's a yay, um, for the reasons we just talked about, which is they are in the driver's seat for the number one seat, and they hold tiebreakers over New England. 19:29 So if New England and Denver end up in a tie, Denver gets it. They never played each other, but Denver would get it based on common opponents. 19:36 And do you know which common opponent becomes New England's kryptonite in that tiebreaker? Who? The Las Vegas Raiders. [snorts] That week one- Forget it... loss to the Raiders. Uh-uh. 19:46 We talked about the punt with the Rams that w- that went out the one-yard line against the Seahawks, that if, if the Rams end up win- you know, getting the number one seed, or if they end up winning the Super... 19:56 Like, i- if it, if it ends up on a tiebreaker, let's say, or they, or they end up... 20:00 Let's say they win tonight, they sweep the Seahawks, and they end up tied with the Seahawks and get the number one seed based on a tiebreaker, you can pinpoint that punt as maybe one of their most important, if not their most important plays of the year. 20:12 This is with, uh, with the Patriots, it's the game version. They lost to the Raiders week one, and you think, "Oh, that game won't come back to haunt them." 20:21 Yeah, it might, because Denver wins the tiebreaker over them based on that. So Denver, yes, is a yay. And again, it's about, it gets back to doesn't matter what I think of the team. 20:30 If you get the number one seed, Kelly, you get a home game in the division round. You skip the wildcard round. 20:35 You get a home game in the division round, and next thing you know, you're 60 minutes away from the Super Bowl at home. Yeah. So yes- It is... it's a yay, big yay. 20:43 I, I, I mean, like you've been doing, we cannot make a big enough of a deal g- uh, uh, getting the one seed how big of a deal that is, right? But, like, especially in this AFC. Is that... That's... Like, I, I don't know. 20:53 There's certain things about the Broncos I'd still like to knock, but, like, I can't say, like, there's, there's this team that's standing in their way, 'cause I just don't know that there is that team. 21:02 They're a big, uh, yay, yay. [laughs] Yo, yeah. All right, Jacksonville Jaguars. Uh, I wanna say yay, but I gotta say nay about somebody in this list, and they're probably the nay. 21:13 Uh, and it's not a knock on the Jaguars. They're 14th on offense EPA per play. They're fourth on D. 21:19 They have been just crushing really easy opponents the last four weeks, but they have some good wins of earlier in the year. It's just that they're, at some point they're gonna be on the road. 21:29 I, do I trust them to win through a playoff gauntlet? I just don't. It's at, by the way, it's at Denver, at Indie, home Tennessee the rest of the way. 21:39 They would lose a tiebreaker to Houston for the division, by the way, as well. Uh, they split the head-to-head. 21:47 Houston has a better potential division record, potential, and crucially, the Texans would have the advantage in common opponents tiebreaker as well. So the Jags really have to, they have to win outright. 22:00 Otherwise, it's a road playoff game. So I'm gonna say nay, net nay for the Jaguars, a net nay. All right. Good breakdown. I'm gonna, I'm gonna side with you on the yay on Denver. Yeah. 22:11 [sighs] All things created equal, I would say yay on Jacksonville. They've kind of, my opinion has turned on them a, uh, a bit. Not that I've really been backing them with bets, but my, my antennas have been up. Yeah. 22:24 But everything you just ran through I think makes it a nay. Can I go- I mean, there, there's a fact that they're a wildcard team. Yeah. Uh, or p- uh, possibility they are a wildcard team on the road. 22:35 And let me go back to the Denver thing for a second, 'cause people are like, "Wait, didn't you just say, uh, New England number one seed six to one was the best bet yesterday?" Remem- uh, no, it wasn't number one seed. 22:42 Remember, it was m- it was most wins. Mm-hmm. So New England at six to one to get in a dead heat is still the best bet in most wins. Doesn't mean I don't think Denver's getting the number one seed. 22:54 And I'll just throw out Broncos eight to one to win the Super Bowl, the Jaguars 16 to 1. Our next team, the New England Patriots, are 15 to 1. Are they a contender, Gil Alexander, yay or nay? 23:05 To get to the Super Bowl, I'm gonna have to say nay. Um, listen, if they lose this week to Baltimore... The, the problem is, the, the Patriots have... 23:14 Listen, I think the Patriots are winning the division, because they have the Jets and Miami at home regardless of what happens against Baltimore, and they win the tiebreakers with Buffalo. 23:22 So I think they win the division. I think they get a home playoff game, but I don't... I, I think they could lose that home playoff game with a, with a, a good road team. 23:32 I also think, again, they're going on the road cer- certainly for the championship game. I, or, or likely for the championship game. It's a, it's a moderate nay. Moderate nay. Yeah. I, I agree with you. Yeah. 23:44 Moderate nay, I'll go. I, I, I like that. Moderate nay for both- Yeah... Jacksonville and New England for me. Mm-hmm. I'm not completely out on them. All right. Houston Texans, yay or nay? It's a yay. Yep. 23:54 Because they have the number one defense in the NFL EPA per play. 23:58 And so just on that, and again, I said they, they've got the tiebreaker with Jacksonville, so the division is not out of the realm of possibility here, and I feel like them at home is a sturdier proposition than the Jags at home in a playoff game. 24:11 So I think they are, I think they're a yay. I think in the A... Wait, wait, I still think this AFC is down a bit. Just having one side of the ball that you're that good at- Yep. 24:22 You got the best unit on the field at all times... it, it's g- I didn't include Buffalo on our list, but it's the same sort of thing, right? It's not even the s- o- it's not even the one side of the ball. 24:29 It's just that you have Josh Allen. Josh Allen I think could lead your, lead you, uh, all the way through. Texans defense I think could do that too. Give me the last AFC. Yay or nay on the Chargers? 24:39 Despite a tough schedule the rest of the way, I'm way more bullish on the Chargers' defense than most are, so I'm gonna say a tepid yay. I'm going nay. Herbert, overrated. [laughs] Man does not like Justin Herbert. 24:50 We'll come back. We'll do the NFC next. On a Numbers Game at VSiN, the sports betting network. [upbeat rock music] A Numbers Game on VSiN, the sports betting network. 25:04 The holidays may slow everybody else down, but not VSiN. And it don't stop. While you're celebrating, traveling, or taking a rare day off, we'll be, uh, live all Christmas Day, wall-to-wall betting coverage. 25:15 Your morning starts with VSiN By the Books. I believe Dave and Jensen are in the house for that, Christmas morning. No way. Yes. Followed by a Numbers Game. I believe Gil is in the house for that one. Hell yeah. 25:26 As opposed to the other guy. Then it's, uh, Live Bet Christmas to guide you through the early action. In the afternoon and evening, we'll keep the insights coming with Follow the Money, VSiN Prime Time, and Cashing Out. 25:35 So even if your routine shifts during the holidays, your betting coverage doesn't have to. From bowl season to NFL action, plus the NBA's holiday slate, VSiN is your home for holiday betting coverage. Yeah, man. 25:47 My, uh, ninth consecutive Christmas or my... Yeah, my ninth consecutive Christmas here on air here at VSiN. Yeah. That's right. You're a trooper, man. Well, I'll take one for the team is what I do for Christmas. Mm-hmm. 25:57 By the way, my, um, I'm upping my top five Christmas jams this year to my top 10, by popular demand. [laughs] Good. No, nobody demanded it. I was gonna say [laughs] By the way, nobody demanded it. 26:07 It's just by my own demand. Well, that, that, that, that's my Christmas tradition is sit- is sitting wherever I am watching a Numbers Game and saying, "I want five more." [laughs] By, by, by... 26:17 I love when people say, "By popular demand," it's completely out of my own head. Yeah, e- every time Gil says that, nobody's asked for it. [laughs] By popular demand, my Christmas top 10. 26:27 Or, or we were, we got- If you-... asked for it by one person... if you demand it more, I'll go top 15. Uh, we got tweets beating the book, money down bets. We're all the Tank for Tua analysts now. Yeah. #neverforget. 26:37 You know who I wanna give a shout-out to on Tua? Michael Lombardi. Michael Lombardi had Tua right the whole time. Can we give Michael Lombardi his, his props for once? But what, what, what, what do we know about Tua? 26:49 Uh, that he probably isn't that good. Uh, Prime Time, "Yo. Hey, man. Has your man crush on Puka been tempered at all with his comments yesterday in his live stream? RG III or Tua? Peace and lo..." 27:00 Oh, this hearkens back to your- [laughs]... your, uh, which quarterback would I take. Uh- I was just gonna say, do I have to do this again with Tua? [laughs] I, I mean, the problem with both RG III and Tua is you... 27:10 RG III's whole career ruined by the, by the leg injuries. Tua, we don't know the effect that concussions had on his game, right? In terms of him just getting more timid or releasing the ball early. Um, no, man. 27:23 Tua, I b- love Pu- I love Puka. By the way, you see this about Puka, like, on some live stream on some show? No, no. 27:27 He's like, "Oh, these refs are trying to, trying to get on TV all the time with, with some of these calls." So I don't know. I don't know the context of it, but that's what he said. 27:35 Uh, Johnny Ringo, "In the spirit of yesterday's quarterback comparisons, which is stronger, Gil's hate of May or Kelly's of Herbert?" Oh, it's Kelly's of Herbert. It's not even close. I don't hate May. 27:45 Kelly hates Herbert. I don't know why... Okay, I don't know if I said this on-air or off-air yesterday. No, that's not fair. I don't hate Herbert. I hate the media depiction of Herbert. I would agree with... 27:54 Listen- More so than I hate Herbert, but- Again, having no idea if I said this on-air or off-air yesterday, so forgive me. It was off-air. Don't worry. Yeah, we were having a discussion off-air. 28:00 The Justin Herbert, Laura Rutledge interaction. Yeah. Okay? Laura Rutledge is looking for the post-game interview. Herbert just kind of waves her off in not the most polite manner, wants to celebrate with his teammates. 28:13 Then he comes to and does the interview, right? If that's Shedeur Sanders- Mm-hmm... just to use one example, come on. You don't think he gets destroyed on that? Of course he does. 28:27 Justin Herbert gets a total free pass on stuff like that. Oh, I'm sorry, were you talking about on the football field stuff as well that he gets a free pass for? Yes. Yes, I was. I, I mean, I was, but there's... 28:37 He had a twofer that night, 'cause there was also the video circulating- Oh, the kid... of some kid in a Eagles hat asking for an autograph, and, uh, he didn't use some nice language. Uh- Broke, broke that kid's heart. 28:45 Yeah, pretty much. Yeah. Chris Heath. Yeah, but- And, like, the one I always use, Gil, is, is people like to, people like to go crazy about ESPN talking about the Cowboys all the time. Like, okay, it... 28:56 It drive- it, it helps drive some ratings. It does. Like, Dak Prescott gets so much- But no, it doesn't. It... But even that I won't let you go with, because it's their self-fulfilling prophecy. 29:04 They talk about the Cowboys so much, and then they say, "Oh, you guys, you guys get better ratings when you talk about the Cowboys." How about stopping talking about the Cowboys for a while, and then see if that's true? 29:12 Okay. Okay. But anyway, go ahead. Ch- chicken or egg, but yeah. Yeah. Okay. Uh- No, not chicken or egg. Self-fulfilling prophecy. 29:18 We, I mean, the Cowboys were one of the most popular teams i- in the National Football League before ESPN even existed. They haven't won a Super Bowl in 1,000 years. 29:25 Yeah, but they, they, they were popular before ESPN even existed. I don't care. They're not a thing. Yeah, my point is- They keep making them a thing... 29:30 how often is Dak Prescott getting killed on there every single year, like five times a year, and what's his career compared to Justin Herbert? Like, uh... Like, Justin Herbert just escapes any criticism always. Yeah. 29:42 Yeah, I'm with you. String, uh, this is from, uh, LosVegas504, "Yo, tell young Kelly Biln that was Ice Cube. I wonder if he knew." Yeah, I caught that one. I knew that one. I knew that one. 29:51 Stringfellow Hawk says- I paused 'cause I didn't really know what I was supposed to do after it. Stringfellow [laughs] Did you catch my pause? You, you were not supposed to- You were like, "Yeah, you." 29:58 [laughs] There was no proper reaction to it. There was none. There was none. Stringfellow Hawk, "Kelly, you know about that West Side connection, Ice Cube, Mack 10, Dub C?" No, nothing. 30:05 Chris Heath, that would be Ice Cube. James Fraction, I'm gonna get to your, uh, your, uh, tweet momentarily when we segue to the NBA. Let's do the rest of the yay or nays. Let's go to the NFC. 30:14 National Football Conference. Chicago Bears, yay or nay? Super Bowl contender. You nailed that, by the way. Yeah, thanks, man. [laughs] Yeah. Um, I, uh, the Bears are a nay. This will come as no surprise to people. 30:26 And once again, I'm not even sure they're making the playoffs, and I will tell you why. This game, this game tonight is m- is massive. 30:34 That game between the Bears and the Packers is so huge for the Bears, because if they lose that game, it is at San Francisco and then home Detroit to end the season. Yep. And Detroit is like, "Yep, we know that 30:47 Man, we're gonna sweep y'all if we, if, if we, it gets to that. We're gonna make the playoffs, not you. So it's a nay for the Bears. 30:53 I think this one's, this one's interesting because- And even if you make the playoffs, I'm sorry, Kelly, even if you make the playoffs, you're plus 20 in turnovers. Yeah. It's unbelievable. It's also unsustainable. 31:05 This is what's unfair- Yeah... is, like, if the Bears were in the AFC, I'd probably go yay. Nay in the NFC. Too many good teams. Interesting. Uh, yay or nay, the Philadelphia Eagles. 31:17 I wanna say nay, but just out of respect I'm gonna say yay. I'll put respect on their name. I, I mean, look, they, it's, they got two against Washington and they got one at Buffalo. 31:25 They're making the playoffs 'cause Dallas lost to Minnesota. Yeah. So Philly's in. The question is, can they win out to get to the playoffs? It is unlikely, 31:35 but I'm just gonna allow for the possibility that defense steps up and they tush-push their way in. So I'm gonna say it's a tepid yay. 31:42 Yeah, I will reluctantly go yay, but I wanna bring it back to the conversation we had a, a week ago, 'cause I thought you put it perfectly. 31:48 I wouldn't be surprised, wouldn't have been surprised if they missed the playoffs- Yep... or ended up in the Super Bowl. Yep. I have no idea what's go- what's gonna happen with the Philadelphia Eagles. All right. 31:57 The Detroit Lions on the outside looking in currently. Yay or nay? So I think they can make the playoffs, but I don't f- I don't believe they can make the Super Bowl this year. I've just seen too many games where, 32:07 I mean, first of all, they have six losses, for God sakes. There's nothing about this year that makes me think they have the defense. A lot of it's injuries, right? 32:14 But I, I just don't think they have the defense, so it's a nay on the Lions. Sorry, Lions. I'll go yay. Okay. But it's gonna be my most tepid yay. How about that? Okay. All right, yay or nay, the Green Bay Packers. Nay. 32:27 I, I just think the Micah Parsons thing ended it. I, I'm sorry to be so simple with it, but I just feel like, again, what's the word? That's their superpower. You took their superpower away. 32:36 I'm not saying you're not a good football team. I think you are. But I just think if you had that element, you become a serious Super Bowl contender, and I think without it, you're not. Mm-hmm. 32:46 I just don't feel like you go on the road and win. Um, don't have the numbers in front of me right now. I should. Might be harsh, by the way, but I just, I see it that way. No, just to back you up. Yeah. 32:54 Most, most pressures in the NFL this season, Micah Parsons. Yeah. 32:56 More than Mu- more than Myles Garrett, who we talk about all the sack numbers, but that's how much he's affecting, uh, the play in ev- uh, in every game, every down. Um, I'm with you. 33:06 I think overall, the way this passing game's beginning to click, I'm gonna go yay, but man, not, not nearly the most confident team for me in the NFC, that's for sure. 33:17 This last one is the one I have the least conviction on. Yeah, 49ers, yay or nay. Yeah. Yay area. I wanna say yay, 'cause, just 'cause of that. 33:26 Uh, they, if, again, if Seattle wins tonight, San Francisco could potentially. I mean, it's, they still got a really tough schedule, so it's not like they have an inside track to the number one- Sure... seed. 33:35 It's just a potential. I just don't know. Like, I don't, I don't think the defense is good enough. Yeah. I don't think the, the defense, uh, EPA per play is 25th, so it's, it's probably a nay. It's probably a nay. 33:47 Probably a nay. Yeah. You know what we haven't talked about enough, isn't there a lot of just s- Nay area... [laughs] isn't there just a lot of similarities between what... 33:57 How I view the Niners and the Bears right now is actually pretty similar. Like, I trust the offense. I, I- Yeah... 34:03 the, the quarterback could still let you down, and I wouldn't be shocked by it, but I think there's some high upside there. I think there's a- The quarterback will absolutely let you down at some point. 34:11 I think there's a good coach with a good offensive mind, but what are these defenses, right? And I think that's gonna be a problem in a very, very competitive NFC. That was fun. 34:20 James Fraction, "Hey, Gil, I noticed that the last two NBA Cup winners, Lakers and Bucks, both lost their next regular season game straight up after their Cup final games. 34:28 It's a small sample size, but it would be great to get an opinion from you, Kelly, and Zach about Indiana moneyline or plus four tonight versus the Knicks." This is a thing. I was gonna ask you about this. Yeah. 34:38 What do you think? Let, is there a post-Cup letdown? I didn't even go back and look at what the past results were, 'cause we're talking very, very small sample size. Yep. But- I mean, the Knicks-... 34:50 I, I'm in on the Pacers tonight. To a- answer your question- Okay... I do have three bets on the NBA, so I'll jump to the result. I'm in on the Pacers, especially since it's gotten to five at a couple spots this morning. 34:59 The Knicks, in Las Vegas two nights ago, I'm gonna assume there was a little partying after, Gil. Eh, I mean, whatever. When anything, you- you're in Vegas, you would think there's a little bit of partying. 35:11 Um, more importantly, the Knicks return to New York tomorrow night to host the 76ers. So I don't, nothing says- Little look ahead-ish. 35:24 Yeah, nothing says letdown spot like a, like a stop in Indianapolis in the way home, uh, between Las Vegas and New York. So yeah, I'm in on the Pacers tonight, uh, five. 35:35 This Pacers team has been playing better ball here recently, too. All right, we'll get Kelly's other two picks besides the Pacers tonight. Good question, James, by the way. Yeah. 35:42 Uh, we'll get, uh, we'll get Zach's thoughts on that a little later. Mm-hmm. Kelly's other two NBA picks on the other side, and then some, couple other NFL markets that may or may not be bettable. 35:50 Numbers Game, VSiN, the sports betting network. He says, "I don't trust Kubiak. Rams moneyline," he says. 36:48 Uh, B Mart, "If you like Seattle tonight, does that mean that you also should like Seattle to win the division at two to one?" Uh, it's not that simple. Again, tiebreakers come into play. 37:00 Rams, Niners, gets complicated Yeah, you get the Niners involved too. Um, Brian Schaefer, 31, says, "Gil, the NFL needs to change the playoff format to best, to best record so the loser of... 37:13 They don't need to change the playoff format to best record. So the loser of this game is going to stay in the top half of the bracket most likely, and will have to play each other again. Advantage two and three seeds." 37:25 Not sure if I follow that. To change the playoff format to best record. Not sure if I follow that, Brian, sorry. On the fly. Uh, Primetime says, "Yo, I was talking about..." 37:34 Oh, apparently, so, so Puka says he went to a Shabbat dinner, uh, last week. Okay. And then he was on a podcast, and the stupid host of the podcast is egging him on to do a terrible dance. 37:44 And Puka doesn't know any better. Puka's like, "Oh, I'll do that dance." I hope Puka doesn't do a dance. That would be ugly, especially in these times. Don't get Puka into trouble. Rams PR team, get on it. Yeah. 37:55 Save Puka from himself- That's right... or, or from the podcast host. All right, you have two other NBA picks? Good jobs. Yeah, two others I'll hit on. Yeah, just to finish up on Pacers. 38:03 Pacers, being a team, I know Zach's been in on them. They'll... Yeah, I'm, I'm gonna guess. I haven't even looked at Visa.com. 38:09 I'm gonna guess Zach's in on this play with me too, 'cause I know he's been a bit higher on the Pacers than me, um, here recently. But they've been getting a little bit better. 38:16 They've been getting healthier, some of their guys back. Four and six over their last 10. Five and five against the spread. They're middle of the road when it comes to net rating. 38:24 The defense has actually been playing pretty well. Top 11 defense over that time. So all that with the Knicks travel that we, we, we were just discussing. 38:32 They've got a bunch of their guys, all, pretty much all their stars listed as questionable currently, uh, as well, so who knows if they're even gonna go tonight. 38:39 Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Mitchell Robinson, Josh Hart, all with the questionable tag currently. So Bennett at five, I will be willing to jump in more if I see those guys are officially ruled out. 38:51 Uh, other two for me tonight. Pelicans, I think it's the first time I've bet them all year, Gil. Uh, Pelicans, I am taking 10 points at home, uh, against the Houston Rockets. 39:01 Zion Williamson, for the moment, is healthy and back in the lineup. No. Yeah, [laughs] I know. He's gonna play basketball tonight, Gil. Stop it. It's a big deal. 39:08 [laughs] This is, uh, two wins in a row now for the Pelicans. Zion and, uh, uh, Queen looking good up front in the front court for them. Three and eight their last 11. They have the 20th best net rating. 39:18 The offense has at least gotten to top half. That's gonna be the most important thing here. 39:23 They will likely get killed on the glass against this Houston team with the size they have up front, but 10 points at home with just a little bit better play out of them recently was too much for me to pass up. 39:33 So a couple of, uh, could be very gross dogs for me tonight. And then the last one, Denver team total over, uh, two, 121 and a half. 39:42 This is one that you're probably gonna hear me bring up a bunch over the next month or two. This offense, best, top-rated offense in the NBA right now. No Aaron Gordon, uh, out there for the Nuggets. 39:53 He's gonna be on the shelf here for a while. Affects this defense massively. If you wanted to look game over tonight, I wouldn't hate you either. Um, just decided to go with the Nuggets team total over. 40:03 They have c- gone over this mark eight of their last 10 games. And since November 22nd, first in offensive rating, first in effective field goal percentage, sixth in turnovers, and ninth in free throw rate. 40:17 Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic, uh, playing great for them on offense. All right. So three tonight. Nuggets team total over, Pacers plus four, Pelicans plus 10. 40:25 My favorite, uh, Lauren Hill song back in the day was a song called To Zion. Mm-hmm. And the first words she says are, "One day I'm un- I'm gonna understand Zion." Yeah. No. You- To this day, we don't... 40:35 you know who my n- my NFL comp is? I don't know if you've heard me bring this up a couple times recently. Christian Watson. Like- Off, oft hurt. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. 40:42 Like, uh, Christian Watson might be one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, but, like, we don't get to see him for more than four games at a time. Yeah. Um, let's go back to the NFL for a second. 40:53 You found some other markets that, uh, you found curious- Yeah, I did, I did... or that people might- These are another ones-... people might enjoy? These are another ones. And I can only speak for DraftKings. 41:01 But, uh, you know, hey, we used to work for DraftKings. We have- DraftKings obviously been around for a while. We did. 41:06 The AFC, NFC market that we started finally betting, like, a year ago that's been up since the dawn of time with them- Yeah... 41:12 that we never had any interest in, Danny and I locked in on this one, like, a week ago, and we were batting these back and forth. So I was like, "You know what? I never talk about this one on the show. 41:21 Let's bring them up." We... That, and that's really the impetus for, for talking about is that we never talk about this. Never talk about them. Um- That doesn't mean it's good. Doesn't mean it's good. 41:29 That means- Doesn't mean it's bad, but... doesn't mean it's wrong that we didn't talk about it. Yeah. We're talking about Super Bowl winning state. Yep. Super Bowl winning state. 41:38 Um, first thing you should do with this kind of market, by the way, any other state, we'll get to the other states, but any other state is the short shot. 41:47 The first thing you should do is compare this to the actual teams themselves and what their Super Bowl winning odds are. Now, if you go to Maryland, or as we used to say back in the day, Maryland, 41:57 that's the Baltimore Ravens, right? If you know your geography. Yeah. So you go to the other, you go to see what are the Baltimore Ravens to win the Super Bowl. They also happen to be 22 to one. Okay, so check. Yep. 42:07 That's the first thing you should be cross-checking. T- Texas would be the other one there. Texas, Houston. Yep. Right? The Houston Texans. Dallas, you're not getting there. 42:13 I was gonna say, Danny and I might have, uh, started talking about this- Yeah... when the Cowboys were still involved, but- Yeah... you're, I mean, you're 11 and one, and Houston is 11 and one. 42:20 So Texas is 11 to one, Houston is, the Houston Texans are 11 to one, so that checks out too. Now, uh, like Florida, right? Florida is Jacksonville and Tampa Bay- Mm-hmm... I guess. Florida is listed at 12 to one. 42:35 Jacksonville is 16 to one to, to win the Super Bowl, and Tampa Bay's 50 to one. And I don't really give Tampa Bay much of a run. You might. 42:43 But to the- Yeah, so I do a little bit more, but because of where they're at in the standings, this is one I'd rather wait on. Like, even if this price goes down a little bit. 42:52 What I'm getting at is, is Florida probably isn't a very good bet, right? You probably, unless you, unless you have some kind of ridiculous conviction on- Yeah, I mean, your conviction needs, uh- On Tampa Bay or-... 43:02 needs to be strong on both Jacksonville and Tampa But I, I say this for all these, right? So Pennsylvania's 10 to one to win the Super Bowl, Super Bowl winning state. 43:10 You're talking about the Eagles and the Steelers there. Yeah, Steelers aren't winning a Super Bowl. 43:14 Eagles are 11 to one and the Steelers are 70 to one, so again, just bet the Eagles, unless you think the Steelers have a shot. By the way, New Jersey/New York is the Buffalo Bills, right? There's no other team. 43:25 That's it, yeah. There's- That one's just Bills... Bills are also eight to one. Eight to one. So that checks out. That's the same thing. And so it comes down to any other state versus California, really. 43:33 Any other state is plus 125, Cali is plus 210. California is the Rams, the Niners, and the Chargers. The Rams are plus 320. Both the Chargers and Niners are 22 to one. California's plus 210. 43:45 My, I mean, my whole thing with this market, they don't have, they, all these markets don't have to be winners, by the way. We just wanna bring them up- Mm-hmm... 43:51 just for, for edification, just so everybody knows the markets exist. 43:55 But to me, if, like, the Niners or Chargers were to win the Super Bowl, right, at 22 to one odds, how dumb would you feel if this is the way you won it? Or maybe you wouldn't feel dumb. 44:06 Maybe you'd be like, "Hey, I cashed my plus 210 on Cali." Yeah, I mean, or, I mean, you could be looking at, "At least I've got something on them instead of nothing." 44:13 I'm just saying, you, you have a, there is a, uh, there's an opportunity cost for every gambling dollar you have, right? Yeah. Would you choose this market to bet? 44:21 Any other state we should mention, that's the, you know, obviously the, the Seahawks, and the Broncos, and the Pats, and the Packers of the world. You're getting plus 125 on that. 44:31 Then there's the Super Bowl, so I, I don't love that category. Did you come up with a bet in that category that you wanted to make? The one I think is most interesting 44:39 is that actual Pennsylvania one if you were high on the Eagles, 'cause it's 11 to one compared to 10 to one, right? 11 to one on the Eagles, is that what we, is that what we said? Yes, correct. Uh-huh. 44:48 So compared to 10 to one, the other, the other interesting possibility that this market brings into play is, like, in theory, the Steelers and Eagles could meet in the Super Bowl, right? 44:59 Like, so you're 10 to, we have 10 to one cashes if they just meet, if they meet in the Super Bowl. That's, uh, quite a theory. That's, uh, that's- I don't think the Steelers are g- Yes... 45:06 I don't think the Steelers are getting that far, but I'm just saying, if you, if you are higher, higher on those teams than I am. The four to one actually does intrigue me a little bit. 45:15 Super Bowl winner first time winner odds. Remember, there are still- It's incredible, man... franchises that have never won a Super Bowl. 45:23 In the case of the Detroit Lions, they've never gotten to a Super Bowl, nor of course has, uh, Houston or Jacksonville, but Houston or Jacksonville at least can say, "Well, we're still modern history expansion teams." 45:34 Detroit can't say that. Um, yeah. By the way, there are more teams, if you're watching at home, that have not won a Super Bowl. I just narrowed it down to the ones that are actually gonna be in the playoffs. 45:43 That's right. Cleveland Browns not listed. Yes. [laughs] We didn't, we didn't forget about you, Cleveland. DraftKings is still listing them. Yeah. Kelly's not, though. 45:50 [laughs] Uh, Buffalo, Buffalo, the Chargers, and the Panthers have all gotten to Super Bowls and franchises, they just haven't won them. Uh, the yes on the Super Bowl first time winner is plus 225. 46:00 The no is minus 280, but you're basically, you're getting this, uh, this group of six. And, uh, Buffalo and Houston d- uh, and to some extent the Chargers to me is live. 46:09 I, I mean, I'd have to run the numbers on this, but it's, again, it's y- you have to make choices with your gambling dollar. Yeah. 46:21 Like, the, the, same sort of thing, if there was a possibility that you could get this ticket to the finish line and have two teams that are in the Super Bowl, but I don't- Sa- sadly for you, the Seahawks, Rams, and Eagles have all won Super Bowls. 46:31 Yeah, sadly, yeah. Sadly for you in this market. But, but fun to look at- Mm-hmm... nonetheless. Zach Cohen on the other side, Mike Psomic and Bill Krackomberger, part of Zach and Krack. 46:42 Coming up on the Numbers Game at VSAN, the Sports Betting Network. [upbeat music]
