I hope I get it this week." And you never wanna tell your other one, your, your spouse or your other, you know, significant other, because they only hear someone owes my husband money or my wife- Of course...

owes her money. Yeah. They don't know that, that, you know, that that's an everyday thing you and I going back and forth with money or, you know.

So then when I invite you over to Thanksgiving dinner- Right... they s- they say- And-... "You're inviting that guy that owed you money to thank-" As, as we're putting on the stuffing, that's right. Yeah.

But just to take it, like, one step further, remember when Bernie Madoff was finally convicted of, of the crimes?

They, they finally caught him doing what he was doing, and the big question afterwards was, oh, his wife had to know what he was doing. Man, she didn't know anything. No way. No chance.

I, I, it's funny, I watch m- a lot of things on Bernie Madoff. Yeah. I'm gonna say no way. But remember how many people said that? Like- I'm even gonna say the kids didn't know... uh-... the two sons.

But her, but remember at the beginning everyone was, "Oh, she had to know." She didn't know. She had no clue. That doesn't, that doesn't mean that she shouldn't have had to give everything back.

She should've, but that's a different story. And Bernie asked her to take 10 million out a, a month earlier. If you remember, there was a transfer from her account for 10 million.

Even on the shows, like you said, the documentaries, I wouldn't carry anything big. I carried, like, 30 grand. Like, they wanted me to carry 100,000 to the window. I said, "That's not me."

Listen, the, the, the bills are paid, everything's paid, that's all you have to know. You don't have no credit card debt, you have no car debt, you have no house debt, you know, like- Yeah... like she knows not to ask.

Yeah, but, but if- How- however, I understand if a, a newbies, you know, a- and especially if you're going to get married, they have to be petrified that you're a gambler.

That's why, like, years ago, I wouldn't even tell people up, up until a decade ago that I gambled for a living, because they would say automatically, "He's a degen." You know, that, that, that's just the way it would go.

And now, you know, when, when PASPAs were repealed and, and all of a sudden now it's all fashionable and it's everywhere, "Ooh- Yeah... you bet sports? Can you..." I swear this just happened. Where was I at last week?

I was at a, there was a Zorkfest over at, uh, it was called- [laughs]... Zorkfest over. Zorkfest. Zorkfest. That's right. Yeah. And I went in there, Anthony Curtis was speaking, and after it was over,

um, the s- the second seminar, someone come up to me handing a card and said, "Hey, here's my card. My son's trying to bet sports. He wants to bet and can you help him?" And I thought- Oh... she was saying...

I, I thought the exactly opposite of what I thought. I was like, "Listen, I'll definitely talk to him. Like, uh, you know, this is not for everyone and, and responsible gambling's a big thing of mine." I took it wrong.

She goes, "No. No, no, no. He wants to win. He doesn't, he's not, he don't have a problem. He just wants to be able to win." So- Oh, I, I'll tell you what I, I- And I, I thought- Yeah...

I thought I was trying to help the kid from being a, a gambler, like, you know. Well, so it was, it's funny 'cause this, this actually touches on both of the things we're talking about.

So when I was at shiva for my mom, there was, there's a couple, um, and I love the, uh, the, the wife dearly. She was asking me about, "Oh, yeah," I don't know how we got on the subject, you know, "If you carry..."

She was like, "You carry cash around?" I was like, "Yeah." And then I told her, like, how much is in my apartment or whatever at different times- Right... and she's just flabbergasted by it.

But she also brings up a story that when her son was a, a teenager and he was deciding what he wanted to do for a living, he thought what I did was cool, and he wanted to g- he wanted to, you know, bet and all this, and I immediately told her, I was like, "No."

Because it was my test to see how many times he would come back. If he came back to me, like, five, six, seven times, whatever, and was super adamant about it, then I would've been like, "Okay, let's, let's do this.

Let's, let's talk about this- Right... you know, very systematically." Yeah. But I would never immediately say yes to a kid's instinct on it. Sure, sure.

And you wanna actually, uh, uh, uh, more than anything, I talk about responsible gambling so much that I'll, immediately my brain was reset to, "Oh, yeah, I'll help him. I, I'm gonna tell him this is not for everyone."

right? It's- Be- because it's harder to beat. Listen, there was- Yeah... bonuses in the day. Yeah. That you can make a living off the bonuses back in the '90s, so when, when I started.

Literally, you, you, uh, early 2000s even. And even when these sportsbooks, the Fanduels, the DraftKings, all the sp- big sportsbooks started up, boy, you could make a living for the first two years off bonuses. Yeah.

My reasoning was if you're not, if you are not committed to this as a, you know, year after year, lifelong kind of thing, like, if it's not in your DNA innately to do this, and it's not something that you will do for, for a very long period of time, I'm not interested in talking to you.

If it my own kid and they expressed an interest, it would take me years to finally be like, "Okay, I see the seeds of what you're do- Like, you kinda get it. Let's talk about this. Let's, let's see how this would go."

But- But the kids are influenced by all these social media scammers- Yes, they are. Yes, they are... and the BS casino wins. That's what I mean. I'm seeing more people now on the internet tell stories about casino wins.

There's this guy out there, you guys all know who he is, the tattoos, Mickey Mouse, is, you know who I'm talking about, this kid? I do not.

That says that he won all this money, the casinos hate me, and he's selling a system for $50 million. And everyone's listening to him, by the way. He gets millions of views. K- give me a break.

The casinos chased him out, he said, on documentaries. They chased him out of the casino because he won so much money, and were trying to get their money back. I mean- Oh, I've seen that, yeah... you had to see.

I saw that. Every- everywhere. Yeah. I, I just can't, our audience is gonna know automatically- Yeah... probably who it is, and they're gonna realize- But that's what we're up against... you're up against that.

And- These kids see that- And can I tell you something?... and they believe it automatically There, there is such a little chance that we can ever beat that. And that, very good. Yeah. I didn't think of that part.

He's betting ridiculous amounts of money, losing tens of thousands of dollars sometimes on a show, but once in a while he'll win 100,000 or 50,000. So once in a while he'll admit he'll win that.

But overall, he is a losing gambler, and he's making the money back because he's making seven figures a year on his social media. On his social media. Yes.

There, I, I mentioned this about a month or two ago, so forgive me for, for repeating this, but in, in, on, along the same lines, um, there might be, I don't know if it's happening or not, but at the time someone was trying to do a sports betting documentary for HBO, and I think they had got green-lighted for like three episodes.

Anyway, you were, you might remember the story. So they put me out here with two other people.

One was this social influencer, young girl, young m- blonde girl who could, you know, was as sweet as could be, and then there was another guy who was as flashy as could be.

And essentially they were both like, uh, I wanna say, I won't remember precisely what it was, it's like, "Oh yeah, remember there was a, there was a Cowboys kick where Brandon Aubrey missed a kick at the end of the game, uh, to keep the spread what it," you know, was.

And they, they are convinced, Bill, there is nothing I can tell them, right? They are convinced that Va- quote, unquote, "Vegas made a call," right? So it's all part of this- [laughs]...

it's just, it's a cousin of what we're talking about, which is people are so easily influenced by p- our brains, the human brain is flawed and wired to want to believe conspiracies, the flashiness.

Um, remember the, remember the action documentary that you were in, uh, Showtime's Action Doc? The whole thing with those producers, I've said this before as well, they were like, "Oh no, don't worry.

The way that we portray Vegas, Dave, is people will see, like, the, the con is so perfectly displayed. They see it. It's like, and then he- I thought he was gonna won... and then he lost the games- Yeah...

and so it fell into their laps, and they're like, "Oh my God- It fell into their laps... we got this, we got this so perfectly mapped out." Obviously everyone's gonna realize it, and you know what?

At the end, the biggest takeaway was? People are like, "Yeah, but he's got that house in Cabo." That's exactly right. And he's got that car. I, I had someone say, "Well, you have a Kia, he has a Rolls-Royce- Yeah...

uh, SUV. That, that's what matters to me." Never knowing how he got the truck, just knowing that I drive a Kia 'cause I'm smart to, uh, have a vehicle that, you know, has 100,000-mile warranty, whatever it may be.

But yeah, no, that's absolutely true. Um, I actually gave in recently to a friend, a friend of mine who wanted to argue with me about video poker.

He, uh, you know, I, I actually showed him every month Las Vegas has a chart of where, not Las Vegas, Nevada, what denominations, how much money they make per denomination, and what game pays the, you know, i- and lo- they makes, makes the most money.

Blackjack and penny slots dominate Las Vegas. Mm-hmm. And, and in, in general- And if you look at the monthly revenue, yes, it's- Yes, blackjack- Yeah... and, and penny slots- Yeah...

are always number one and number two- Yep... dominating the, the, the, the market. So he said, "Well, video poker, you're better off playing a higher denomination on video poker, too, Bill, because it pays back more."

And I'm like, "No, no, no, no. That's not, not what it does. Not video poker. That's the reels. The, the video poker, the payback is on the screen. So if it's you're playing jacks or better, there's the payout.

And I can't remember the teams and the certain year, but what Chrissy was, Chrissy Andrews, who, who runs the South Point Sports Book, the director of the South Point Sports Book, what he always used to love was you would get really sharp people on both sides of just a simple prop like that, a simple season-long prop like that, and one of them would make a great case.
